The day after we arrived in Georgetown, Penang, we set out to explore the downtown area. Specifically, we were in search of Armenian Street, Little India, Chinatown, and of course, the famous street murals.
Unfortunately, we neglected to study the best walking route in advance that would take us past all the most popular murals. But we had a great time being spontaneous, and even managed to find "Motorcycle Boy."

Of course, since the original murals were painted, all kinds of "imitations" have been added here and there, but they each add something unique to their little part of town. They also contribute to the fun of meandering through town and being surprised by different styles of art in unexpected places.
The murals come in many different sizes and styles. From this sad looking furry cat person on a tricycle...

...to this durian fruit juggling girl dressed in traditional Malay garb and a huge grin.

This young boy taking his pet dinosaur out for a walk was one of my personal favourites.

But I also loved this scene, and even had a little fun with it. First, I had to study the dance steps...

...then I was able to join in. How am I doing?

During our stroll through the Clan Jetties we discovered this fun scene.

And we even came across some famous figures who didn't mind posing with us for pictures.

Before we leave, we hope to take another walkabout and find more of these fun and fabulous works of art. Stay tuned...
